CABSAT 2014: Miranda to Feature Key Production, Playout and Monitoring Solutions

Miranda Technologies, a Belden Brand, a provider of integrated solutions for production, playout and delivery systems for television broadcasters and multi-system operators, will feature high-end production and integrated playout solutions at CABSAT 2014.

Miranda_logoFor production and playout applications, Miranda will highlight its NVISION 8500 Hybrid router, an enterprise-class routing solution that combines exceptional performance with demonstrable savings in cost, space and power. The 8500 range is available in five frame sizes, all of which include superior audio processing capabilities and simplified cable management systems.

Also featuring will be Kaleido-MX and Kaleido-Modular-X, class-leading multiviewers that combine performance with weight, space and power efficiency. Both multiviewers provide video scaling quality that delivers “any source, anywhere” processing with the flexibility to place any signal on any display at any size.

Designed to exploit the advantages of lightweight, easy to install fibre, Miranda’s Telecast brand Fibre Solutions will demonstrate its CopperHead 3400 system, which includes a camera-mountable transceiver, base station and remote camera control panel that enables a range of high-end cameras to be connected and controlled via SMPTE 311M fiber.

A 4K UHDTV-ready CopperHead 3404K camera-mountable transceiver will also be on display. The 3404K needs only two strands of fibre optic cable to carry all bi-directional signals, including four 3Gb/s HD/SDI paths, for 4K productions from camera to truck or control room.

Miranda’s world-class, highly integrated iTX playout platform for linear and on-demand television will also feature at CABSAT, with emphasis on iTX Master Control, which integrates playout with master control capabilities.

The highly advanced “playlist aware” iControl signal and facility monitoring system that works with iTX proactively alerts and directs users to faults from one end of a signal chain to the other, no matter how extensive that chain may be.

Optional iTXG dynamic rendering via Miranda’s acclaimed Vertigo XG graphics processor, which provides real-time CG, DVE and graphics capability directly into the iTX output server will also be demonstrated.

Miranda’s Softel brand will be represented by Swift Create V8, a caption and subtitle creation workstation that includes more than 20 new functions that vastly simplify the processes required to create, repurpose and manage subtitle files for multiplatform use. Captions and subtitles for content delivered to devices such as smartphones and tablets can now match the quality of their traditional broadcast channel equivalents.

Visual Impact Serbia Outfits New HD OB Truck With Miranda Solutions
Miranda Technologies announces the installation of a range of Miranda solutions in the new Vi-1 HD production truck, designed, built and operated by Visual Impact Serbia. Vi-1 is Visual Impact’s first all-HD truck and the first privately-owned HD truck in the country.

Visual Impact has installed the NVISION 8144 Hybrid router, part of Miranda’s NVISION 8500 Enterprise Class router series, in the new Vi-1 along with the company’s NV920 router controller and three Densité 3 modular signal processing frames. Miranda’s ability to provide comprehensive integrated control of the entire infrastructure was a critical factor in the decision to choose Densité and NVISION.

The Miranda router is configured for 144 inputs and outputs, and is 3Gb/s ready for future operations. The 12m x 2.44m x 3.95m truck is wired for up to 14 camera channels, including 12 HD and two super slow-mo chains, all provided by Sony. The truck marks Visual Impact’s inaugural move into the provision of HD OB services throughout the region. In addition to the former Yugoslav region, Vi-1 will be deployed throughout The Balkans and Greece, primarily for sports, concerts and other live events.

“This is our first venture into outside broadcast facilities, and the first HD truck in the region,” said Visual Impact Serbia director Srđan Ršumović. “Our top requirements – apart from excellent quality, of course – were for reliability, and that the whole system should be simple and secure in operation.

“We looked at a number of vendors for the core infrastructure, but Miranda stood out for its cost/performance ratio,” Ršumović added. “It also has an intuitive and powerful control system for the routing and signal processing, which greatly speeds set-up and improves operations. All the equipment is compact, too, and Miranda has an excellent reputation for reliability, so for us it makes it the ideal outside broadcast choice.”

Miranda’s NVISION 8144 Hybrid router, part of Miranda’s NVISION 8500 enterprise-class router series, combines highly advanced features with performance and efficiency within a 144×144 matrix, all contained in a space-saving 8RU frame. The NVISION 8144 also provides simplified, high-density cable management, direct fiber connectivity and audio concentrators.

Micky Edwards, Miranda’s vice president of sales in EMEA added, “This first full HD OB truck by Visual Impact Serbia is also a first for Miranda in the region. The selection of the NVISION 8144 is further validation of the reliability, performance and cost-effectiveness it delivers for OB and many other applications.”
