StorageDNA Unveils DNA Evolution for Mac-based Systems

StorageDNA announced the availability of DNA Evolution Mac-based server and Thunderbolt systems (M Series).

StorageDNAMedia and entertainment professionals who prefer the Mac ecosystem now have access to the advanced features and benefits of the company’s revolutionary Linear Tape-Open (LTO) with Linear Tape File System (LTFS) archive-retrieval workflow solution. By directly connecting a DNA Evolution Mac Archive solution to field, NAS or SAN storage, the fastest possible archive and restore performance can be achieved. The DNA Evolution Mac-based models are cost-effective solutions, from field to enterprise, and offer hardware flexibility, with a choice of LTO tape drive connection.

“The world is moving beyond 1 gigabit speeds. StorageDNA’s new Mac-based offerings enable the direct, high-bandwidth connections to storage that are necessary to move the massive amounts of data our clients generate and manage,” said Bryson Jones, founder and CIO, North Shore Automation. “When we design a system, having the ability to adapt the archiving solution to the workflow, instead of the other way around, is a great advantage.”

StorageDNA’s DNA Evolution is a groundbreaking platform that combines nearline and archive storage on LTO tape and was designed to help media professionals manage digital file-based content and lower storage costs. Built on LTO with LTFS technologies, it enables new levels of archive-restore performance, allows new media workflows like conform from LTO, and delivers powerful search and browse features to streamline and accelerate media pipelines.

“We recognize that many of our customers prefer Mac-based systems. In response, we wanted to provide them with an easy and cost-effective solution that runs on the platform they use every day,” said Jeff Krueger, worldwide vice president of sales, StorageDNA.  “With the M Series, we are pleased to be able to offer more options and hardware flexibility, in the smallest form factor, while also delivering the highest possible archiving performance.”
