Encompass Making Waves with ASP’s World Championship Tour

Encompass Digital Media has partnered with the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) to bring live coverage of the 2014 Samsung Galaxy ASP World Championship Tour (WCT). Encompass is utilizing its unique combination of global assets including geographically diverse Teleports (satellite and fiber services), remote transmission and live streaming to the ASP’s official YouTube channel delivering this ultimate surfing event live to audiences around the world – Australia, Brazil, France, Japan, Portugal and United States.

ENCOMPASS_microsite-logo“When we started planning the tour, we knew that we needed a world-class transmission partner that had an extensive geographical reach and proven capabilities to take a signal from isolated locations and distribute that signal to a broad base of countries,” said Rob Hammer, ASP’s Vice President, Post Production. “Encompass provided the ideal partnership.”

“With an estimated audience of 120 million worldwide, Encompass is honored to play a pivotal role in the broadcast chain for ASP’s 2014 World Championship Tour,” said Chris Myers, Encompass’ Executive Vice President, Worldwide Occasional Services.

The WCT takes place from March through December 2014 with nearly a dozen planned locations – Australia, Rio, Fiji, South Africa, Tahiti, California, France, Portugal and Hawaii. With each location, the routing parameters are unique and require the integrated global footprint and resources that Encompass uniquely provides. Beginning with the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast presented by BOQ in Australia, Encompass uplinked the event utilizing its HD flyaway and the company provided for the creation and delivery of three live streams on YouTube.
