Turner Studios Field Operations Joins Alliance Productions

Alliance Productions continues to find strength in numbers. Atlanta-based Turner Studios has partnered with Alliance Productions and is making Turner’s trucks available to Alliance clients. The addition of Turner’s two trucks, TS-1 and TS-2, gives Alliance clients access to more than 40 remote-production trucks, many of which are of the 53-ft. variety.

“We are very excited to be a part of Alliance Productions and look forward to working with each of the members and clients,” says Susan O’Neal, senior operations manager, Turner Studios Field Operations. “Our goal is to provide the highest level of client service for each event we cover.”

Turner Studios will offer its two HD production trucks as part of the Alliance Productions fleet of mobile units. O’Neal says they’re most likely to be available for booking in the fall and winter.

“Being part of the Alliance will keep the trucks busier and help fill in the cracks between our events for Turner Sports,” she says. “We’ve collaborated with Alliance partners over the years so it just made sense to for us to become a member.”

Each truck features Sony HDC2500 cameras with Canon lenses, Grass Valley Kayenne K-Frame 3G video switcher, Calrec Alpha audio console with Bluefin technology, and Chyron HyperX3 graphics.

“Turner Studios is a tremendous addition to our team,” says Craig Farrell, president/GM, Alliance Productions. “We saw this as an excellent opportunity to work together and better serve our existing client base. The Turner name embodies quality in the television industry, and the two Turner Studios trucks will offer increased options for our clients.”

He says the Turner trucks give Alliance more flexibility in being able to do shows that require up to 20 cameras. “We’re getting calls for bigger shows, and these will help us service clients’ needs better and not turn away business. Turner is a good fit.”

O’Neal adds that formally joining Alliance Productions will give more visibility to Turner Studios. “A lot of people think that we only do work for Turner Broadcasting, but that’s not the case.”

For Alliance Productions, it continues to show just how companies that may seem to be competitors are willing to work together.

“When we started about 16 years ago, naysayers would say that competitors would never work together,” Farrell says. “But, when you get the networks and the mobile-truck companies together, they drop their defenses and get work from one another and also help each other out engineering-wise and with equipment.”
