NBA Digital To Build Responsive Team Websites Across League

NBA Digital announced it is redesigning all 30 team websites that will make the NBA the first professional sports league to feature league-wide responsive team sites. Working closely with teams on a dynamic design and optimized functionality, the responsive team sites will provide fans with a seamless and consistent experience to access team news, extensive video highlights, player features and more, across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

Overall, the responsive sites will enhance the usability, performance and capability of the league’s team sites across all devices with a mobile-first approach.  During the 2013-14 regular season, record mobile and tablet visits accounted for more than 60% of total visits to NBA digital platforms.

“As our fans and industry increasingly place more emphasis on mobile consumption, our redesigned sites will best position us to serve our content across all platforms,” said Christina Miller, senior vice president and general manager of NBA Digital.  “We’re proud to be the first league to offer team sites with fully responsive design.  These sites offer each team the flexibility to customize and engage their individual fan bases in a dynamic way.”

New site features include a highly visual display allowing fans to engage with compelling content across all devices. Throughout the year, each team will be enabled to customize its sites to tell their unique story directly to fans across all platforms. With video prominently displayed on the home page, the sites will also feature in-depth team coverage, an enhanced photo gallery, and a curated feed of the most relevant social media posts.

To date, 15 teams have already unveiled responsive sites – Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, Sacramento Kings, and Utah Jazz – with the league’s remaining teams to be unveiled in the coming weeks.

NBA Digital is the NBA’s extensive cross-platform portfolio of digital assets jointly managed by the NBA and Turner Sports which includes NBA TV, NBA.com, NBA LEAGUE PASS, NBA LEAGUE PASS Broadband, NBA Mobile, NBADLEAGUE.com, and WNBA.com.
