New vision-correcting screen will make glasses obsolete, say scientists

Metro.co.uk reports that scientists say wearing glasses to look at screens will be a thing of the past after developing new vision-correcting computer monitors.

The team from UC Berkeley and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology say that the displays will distort images in such a way that they always appear perfectly clear to viewers when they use computers, smartphones, tablets or television.

Lead researcher Ramesh Raskar explained that the amount of time we spend interacting with displays is taken for granted.

‘Our technique distorts the image such that, when the intended user looks at the screen, the image will appear sharp to that particular viewer,’ he said.
