ADI, Nevion Deliver HD Contribution Network For English Football Clubs

Managed media specialist Nevion has partnered with ADI to help the media-based services supplier deliver content over its ‘Live Venue’ platform, a new fiber broadcast network linking Barclays Premier League and Sky Bet Football League clubs with global rights holders, federations, and broadcasters.

NevionLive Venue provides incredible opportunities for clubs, federations, broadcasters and rights holders alike, adding huge value throughout the production process. The overriding benefits come through immediacy, flexibility and quality, allowing HD content to be repurposed for multiple uses and delivered instantly to numerous global locations.

It is for these reasons that ADI has chosen to partner with Nevion, opting for its JPEG 2000 solution, using its Ventura VS901 platform over a Juniper network, to enable multiple streams of HD content to be routed instantly and reliably with virtually no loss of quality.

Under the terms of the partnership, Nevion is manufacturing its JPEG 2000 codec in conjunction with ADI to support the features on its Live Venue service. In addition, Nevion is supplying its VideoIPath managed media services platform to control both its cards and the Juniper switch fabric to provide scheduled end-to-end connectivity and inventory management. The solution enables the deployment of multiple high-quality HD or SD video feeds over a combination of 1 Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet circuits and provides enormous flexibility to the user.

“This partnership with Nevion harnesses true value for both companies and continues to demonstrate ADI’s innovation and commitment to securing and working with some of the best suppliers around the world,” said Geraint Williams, chief executive of ADI UK. “Nevion is a proven leader in this market; they provide incredible technical solutions driven by a rich and extensive history of working within the broadcast industry. As part of the agreement, Nevion and ADI will continue to work together on new firmware and software to fully exploit the collaborative and innovative Live Venue service as we develop this platform in the coming years.”

“The Live Venue service is an exciting project to be involved in and one that perfectly complements both Nevion’s and ADI’s skill-sets,” said Nick Pywell, managing director of Nevion UK. “By bringing together Nevion’s video transport expertise and ADI’s R&D capability and client base, we can deliver a unique product to English football clubs that is quick to set up, flexible and extremely reliable.”
