Drogaria Onofre Boosts Online Distribution with Level 3 Data Center Services

Drogaria Onofre, a pioneer home-delivery drugstore chain, selected Level 3 Communications, Inc. for a wide range of data center services including Web page hosting and managing, Internet services and dedicated hosting. Level 3’s services will boost the quality of Drogaria Onofre’s Internet distribution service, improving the speed, performance and overall end-user experience of the retail chain’s e-commerce business.

Level-3-A_standard_logoDrogaria Onofre has an expected 26 percent growth forecast in e-commerce for 2014, according to the Brazilian Electronic Commerce Association. This growth was initiated by Drogaria Onofre’s switch in 2013 to an e-commerce business platform with an Android and iOS systems-compatible application for online shopping. Level 3’s data center services will provide Drogaria Onofre with the necessary capabilities to manage this rapid data growth and ensure business continuity across a variety of platforms. The drugstore chain contracted with Level 3 for its secure and efficient systems for managing company data with speed and quality.

“Since we have begun using Level 3’s services, access to the online communication channel of the company has grown 30 percent,” said Lismeri Avila, Drogaria Onofre’s operating officer. “The platform’s ability to help us scale our growth and take advantage of emerging technologies was a key factor for choosing Level 3. Our online presence is now in a stable environment, with an integrated data back-up at the data center, and we have more flexibility, speed and security in accessing our database in the cloud.”

In the market for the past 80 years, Drogaria Onofre has 47 stores in five Brazilian states and is part of the U.S. company CVS Caremark, the largest health company in the world. According to an Abrafarma 2013 ranking, the company ranks ninth in drugstore chain sales in the country.
