Mexico takes on Hollywood with its first 3D terror film

Latino.foxnews.com reports that after the recent success of films like “No Se Aceptan Devoluciones” (Instructions Not Included) and “Cantinflas,” Mexico now dares to take on Hollywood with “Mas Negro que la Noche” (Darker Than Night), the country’s first 3D terror film, to debut next weekend in 172 movie theaters in the United States.

The movie, directed by Henry Bedwell and starring Zuria Vega, Adriana Louvier, Erendira Ibarra and Ona Casamiquela, became the fourth biggest box-office premiere in Mexican history for a production of that country, totally in spite of what critics had to say about it.

Spain’s film industry had a part in making “Mas Negro que la Noche” through Neo Art Producciones.

Now, starting Friday, Sept. 26, with the participation of Pantelion Films, a company founded in 2010 by Televisa and Lionsgate, the 3D terror flick becomes the latest attempt to turn into gold a work targeting the Hispanic market.
