Live From CES: Samsung Rolls Out Next-Gen SUHD Technology

It seems that UHD simply is not good enough for the consumer-electronics manufacturers. Samsung introduced SUHD at CES, a next-generation UHD technology that Joe Stinziano, VP, Samsung Electronics America, said offers 64 times the color expression of conventional TVs.

“It displays the finest details from any video source,” he said during the Samsung press event at CES 2015. “SUHD takes the picture quality to a whole new level, thanks to our proprietary nano-crystal semiconductors that deliver different colors of light depending on the size of the pixel. Along with the highest color purity, it has 2.5 times the brightness of conventional TVs and deeper blacks with unrivaled contrast.”

The first model will be the 88-in. JS9500.

According to Tim Baxter, president, Samsung Electronics Americas, Samsung has nabbed 60% of the UHD market,  helping increase the company’s overall TV-market share by 5% in 2014.

“And over half of the UHD sets sold were curved,” he said, “proving that consumers see the value of the immersive curved-TV experience.”
