DTS Reveals Its New Immersive Audio Technology

DTS announced that DTS:X will be its next-generation object-based codec technology. This release is the successor to DTS-HD Master Audio. The official launch of DTS:X is planned for March 2015, at which time additional information will be shared.

Manufacturers representing nearly 90 percent of the home AV receiver and surround processor market, including Anthem, Denon, Integra, Krell, Marantz, McIntosh, Onkyo, Outlaw Audio, Pioneer, Steinway Lyngdorf, Theta Digital, Trinnov Audio, and Yamaha, have agreed to launch products supporting DTS:X in 2015.

Additional manufacturer partners will be announced in the coming months. DTS:X solutions are also available for leading 2015 AV receiver silicon platforms representing the majority of the DSP platform market share, including Cirrus Logic, Analog Devices and Texas Instruments.

Songza Now Available on DTS Play-Fi Ecosystem
DTS also announced the availability of Sognza, a free music streaming service recently acquired by Google, on DTS Play-Fi apps for Android and iOS. In addition, Songza’s millions of subscribers will have access to Play-Fi-curated playlists tailored to their mood, room and activity in the home.

Play-Fi allows listeners to enjoy their music streamed over an existing Wi-Fi network in uncompromised quality to their favorite connected speaker brands that incorporate Play-Fi technology, such as Polk Audio, Definitive Technology, Phorus and Wren, across multiple speakers and rooms throughout their home.

Music can be played through the Play-Fi app from smartphones and tablets or via Play-Fi drivers on desktop PCs. The Play-Fi ecosystem updates automatically, ensuring that listeners always have access to the latest content service providers joining the ecosystem, including Songza.
