University of Oklahoma, Tyler Media To Offer Spanish TV Broadcast of Spring Game

University of Oklahoma Athletics and Tyler Media announced that Francisco X. Rivera and Roger Valdivieso will handle the Spanish language television broadcast of the OU Spring Game presented by U.S. Fleet Tracking. The Spanish broadcast will air at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 12 on Telemundo affiliates in Oklahoma City (KUTU channel 25.2 – Cox channel 702) and in Tulsa (KTUZ channel 30 – Cox channel 5).

Next Saturday’s OU Spring Game will mark the second time that the Sooners have been broadcast locally in Spanish. The 2007 Oklahoma-Miami football game played in Norman was heard in Spanish on radio.

Francisco X. Rivera is a soccer play-by-play announcer and reporter for FOX Network and FOX Sports 1. He joined the network’s soccer coverage as a sideline reporter in the 2013 Gold Cup, and served as a feature reporter for FOX Soccer Daily on FS1. He has also called international and college soccer matches on FOX Sports 2, Prime Ticket and FOX Soccer Plus. In June 2013, he became the first Mexican-born broadcaster on the FOX Network.

Rivera is entering his 10th year with Fox Deportes, mainly as play-by-play announcer and reporter for Major League Baseball games. On October 24, 2012, Rivera became the youngest broadcaster to call a World Series game on Spanish television in the United States. He has also served as a host and analyst of their NFL coverage, including Super Bowl XLVIII. He also calls college football action and hosts UFC events on the network.

Roger Valdivieso has been the play-by-play voice of the Los Angeles Clippers Spanish television broadcasts on FOX Sports West for the past four seasons. With a career in sports broadcasting spanning over twenty years, he has also called NBA games in his native El Salvador and more recently for DirecTV Sports Latin America.

He has worked as a sports host, anchorman and reporter for affiliates of networks such as Telemundo and Univision in California. He also has extensive announcing experience in Major League Baseball, European soccer and National Football League, Summer and Winter Olympic Games broadcasts working for Fox and DirecTV Sports Latin America.

Kickoff for the OU Spring Game presented by U.S. Fleet Tracking is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11 at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

New for 2015, fans will be able to purchase tailgating cuisine from some of the area’s top food trucks as part of the Great Food Truck Tailgate. In addition to enjoying live music and kids’ amusement rides, the OU Spring Sale will feature a number of vendors selling a wide variety of apparel and Sooners’ merchandise.

University of Oklahoma students will receive free admission to the game by showing a current OU ID at the gate. OU Kids Club members will also receive complimentary admission.

Fans can purchase $5 seats online or by calling the OU Athletics Ticket Office by calling (405) 325-2424 or toll-free at (800) 456-4668 (online purchases subject to nominal convenience fee at time of purchase). The price will increase to $10 on April 9.

All seating is general admission for the Spring Game. All normal game entry policies remain in place for the Spring Game relative to permitted items. Campus parking lots will be open and free of charge for fans.

The day’s festivities begin at 8 a.m. with the annual OU Spring Sale in McCasland Fieldhouse with vendors including the OU Bookstore, the OU Equipment Room and retail outlets selling a wide variety of apparel and Sooners’ merchandise.

At 10 a.m. the Sooner Jr. Kids Zone opens in the McCasland Fieldhouse parking lot with kids’ carnival rides.  Sooner Jr. will have interactive games throughout the morning promoting F.A.N.S. – Fitness Fun, Academics, Nutrition and Sportsmanship. The Sooner Schooner will be on display for pictures with Boomer and Sooner. The OU Spirit Squad will be signing autographs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
