Seen On Screen: NFL Releases Broadcast Schedule; NBA TV Producing Nine First Round Playoff Games

The NFL season will kick off in Foxborough, Mass., with the Pittsburgh Steelers facing defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots on Thursday, Sept. 10 on NBC. The league released its full schedule Tuesday on the NFL Network and NFL.com.

Viewers tuning into the Sunday Night Football opener on NBC on Sept. 13 will see the Dallas Cowboys hosting the New York Giants. The next night, ESPN will air its Monday Night Football doubleheader. First, the Philadelphia Eagles will visit the Atlanta Falcons; in the nightcap, the Minnesota Vikings will face off against the San Francisco 49ers.

A matchup between the Eagles and Detroit Lions on Fox will start off the NFL’s Thanksgiving tripleheader. That game will be followed by the Carolina Panthers’ trip to Dallas to challenge the Cowboys on CBS. The late game will feature the Green Bay Packers hosting their rivals, the Chicago Bears, on NBC in the Packers’ first home Thanksgiving game since 1923…

CBS will once again air eight Thursday Night Football games simulcasted on NFL Network. Those games will be from Weeks 2-8 and Week 13; the other weeks’ games will be televised on NFL Network and simulcast on over-the-air stations in the participating teams’ primary markets. The first Thursday Night Football game, on Sept. 17, will be an AFC West content between the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Seattle Seahawks will head south to face division rival 49ers on Oct. 22.

…NBA TV will televise up to nine originally produced first round NBA playoff games. The network’s live game telecasts are part of NBA TV’s more than 1,500 hours of programming throughout the playoffs. NBA TV’s coverage will include interviews with coaches, who will also wear microphones during the games. The network’s signature studio show, NBA GameTime, will provide comprehensive nightly coverage, including pre- and post-game studio programming and live press conference coverage. Additionally, NBA TV will televise Playoff Playback, 60-minute versions of each playoff game…

Uninterrupted on Bleacher Report will show behind-the-scenes videos and real-time reactions from the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar, as well as Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, throughout the playoffs. Through posting regular video updates, which debut exclusively on Uninterrupted via Bleacher Report and its Team Stream App, the two forwards will be giving fans unique perspective and access to their preparation and thoughts via an unfiltered, unedited platform. …ESPN will host the Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles 2015 (LA2015). The event will begin July 25 with live coverage of the Opening Ceremony at 9 p.m. ET.  ESPN’s coverage will include the three-hour live telecast of the Opening Ceremony and nightly studio programs from Los Angeles throughout the week-long event. Coverage will air primarily on ESPN, with some programs appearing on ABC or ESPN2. All ESPN and ESPN2 programs will also being simulcast on WatchESPN.

…BET is storming out of its corner with its first-ever rounds of professional boxing.The network, which has traditionally programmed entertainment, music, news and public affairs for the African-American audience, , told The Associated Press it has partnered with Roc Nation Sports to air up to nine live, two-hour telecasts of boxing events in the next 18 months. The first main event fight will feature WBA Super Middleweight World Champion Andre Ward (27-0) facing former World Title Challenger Paul Smith (35-5) of England on June 20 at Oakland’s Oracle Arena. The action inside the ring will be supplemented with a live musical performance as well as a DJ — a package of elements branded “throne boxing” by Roc Nation Sports and its founder, Shawn “Jay Z” Carter…

…The 11th year of the Dew Tour will bring the best of skate and BMX to Chicago, Ill., and will kick off June 20-21. First-time host Los Angeles, Calif. will provide a playground for a celebration of the sport and culture of skateboarding, spanning the downtown area from August 14-16. Concluding the season will be eight-year host Breckenridge Ski Resort with snowboard and freeski events December 10-13. Dew Tour returns to Chicago after a five year hiatus, highlighted with the successful streetstyle competition created by the Dew Tour three years ago. The event will take place at Grant Park Skate Plaza, and will feature skate and BMX street and streetstyle competitions.
