ATEME Kyrion Encoders Powers France Télévisions Network and 2015 SEA Games

France Télévisions is deploying ATEME’s Kyrion CM encoders to power its nationwide IP contribution network. With over 100 sites, the French public broadcaster contribution network is one of the largest IP-based networks in Europe. The Kyrion encoders enables a H.264 HD upgrade, as well as supporting the legacy MPEG2 SD format.
The Kyrion encoder has been designed for contribution over satellite, IP and ASI networks, with advanced features such as ultra-fast-boot, and added value features including ABR output and integrated Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ). The Kyrion CM5000 is based on the ATEME 5th Generation STREAM compression engine, and delivers the highest video quality at minimum bitrates with ultra-low latency. The Kyrion CM5000 is a future-proof solution, with a HEVC software upgrade option.

“France Télévisions is known for our high-quality service, in term of video quality and reliability,” says Emmanuel Girouard from France TV. “After extensive evaluation of several encoders, we’ve found that the ATEME Kyrion encoder is the best solution to meet our rigid requirements in term of quality and pricing.”

“With the Kyrion encoder SNMP and REST API, we enabled easy and smooth integration with the France Télévisions 3rd party management system,” says Emmanuel Boureau, vice president of sales at ATEME. “This enabled seamless transition from MPEG2 SD legacy encoders to a H.264 HD service within weeks.”

ATEME Kyrion Encoders Deliver Premium Video Quality to the 2015 Southeast Asian Games

ATEME announced today that CAT Telecom has deployed Kyrion encoders and decoders to stream the 2015 Southeast Asian Games over IP.

During the 28th Southeast Asian Games, hosted by Singapore, 7000 athletes from 11 nations will compete in over 400 events. CAT will stream the majority of events to Thailand using ATEME Kyrion encoders and decoders.

The Kyrion is a future-proof solution, with a HEVC software upgrade option and pay as you grow support: SD to HD to UHD, and MPEG2 to H.264 to HEVC. All advanced features are included, as well as added value features such as ultra-fast boot, and integrated Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ). The Kyrion is based on the ATEME 5th Generation STREAM© compression engine, and delivers the highest video quality at minimum bitrates with ultra-low latency.

“The Kyrion solution provides us with premium video quality at a low bitrate, making IP contribution a viable option” says Apisit Srikeawbawon, Section Manager Satellite and Data at CAT. “With the Kyrion H.264 15Mbps quality, we are able to provide an exceptional viewing experience while reducing our link OPEX.”

“The Kyrion encoders and decoders have been designed for contribution over any network, both IP and satellite, while still supporting all current and future CODECs” says Emmanuel Boureau, Vice President of Sales at ATEME. “We are excited to support the games this year, and look forward to next years’ games, where we’ll provide CAT with the HEVC software upgrade, to further reduce the link OPEX”.
