At new Central NY film hub, Tom Berenger fears technology will replace actors with holograms [video]

Syracuse.com reports that as filming of “American Dresser” wrapped up in Syracuse Wednesday, the actor Tom Berenger thanked Gov. Andrew Cuomo for allowing him to cross the invisible border between New York City and Upstate New York to make a movie.

But Berenger also shared his thoughts about the new technology that is changing the industry.

Cuomo invested $15 million of New York state’s money in a new hub in DeWitt intended to combine the technologies of movie production and nanotechnology in a part of the state that has neither. There are also big tax breaks for making movies upstate and for connecting the two industries to colleges.

“You know what my feeling is?” Berenger said during an interview inside the new Central New York Hub for Emerging Nano Industries.

“One day we will be replaced by holograms and they can actually bring back John Wayne and Humphrey Bogart and they will actually replace us and they won’t have to pay us.”
