CCW 2015: FUJIFILM To Demo 4K Ultra HD Series, Cabrio Zoom Lens

FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Optical Devices Division will showcase its new 4K Ultra HD Series and its 25-300mm Cabrio zoom lens with detachable drive unit at the upcoming Content & Communications World.

“CCW is always an important show for us,” says Thom Calabro, director of Marketing and Product Development for the Optical Division of FUJIFILM. “We’re able to connect with the entire range of our east coast customers – dealers, rental houses and their customers, DP’s, corporate customers, live sports producers who may not have been able to get to NAB. We always look forward to an enthusiastic crowd at CCW.”

PrintIn the company’s CCW booth will be its 4K Premier PL 25-300mm Cabrio [ZK12x25] zoom lens with an optional, detachable servo unit for remote control of the zoom, focus and iris adjustment.

It provides for quick and smooth zooms, reframing, focus and iris controls.

“This drive has all the advantages and features of the other Cabrio digital lens drives,” says Calabro. “The optional drive removes the need for external, rod-mounted motors which can take time to line up accurately. This drive unit comes off quickly and is very easy to put back on.”

The PL 25-300mm lens is the latest in the company’s popular Cabrio series, which includes the Premier PL 19-90mm, the PL 85-300mm, and the recently introduced PL 14-35mm lenses.

The FUJINON 4K Ultra HD Series will also be a CCW booth highlight. The UA80X9 field lens and the UA22x8 portable zoom are designed for broadcast applications and are compatible with 4K 2/3-inch broadcast cameras. Both lenses are currently available.

“Our Premier PL 4K+ cine lenses and Cabrio cine/ENG-Style lenses have been used extensively for sports and entertainment productions thus far, but mainly on cameras with a PL mount,” says Calabro. “There are focal length limitations there, but with the new 4K Ultra HD Series when coupled with 4K 2/3-inch cameras, these lenses produce the same focal length range DP’s and camera operators have come to expect with HD, but at a much higher resolution, contrast, and dynamic range.”

The UA80X9 has an 80x zoom and optical image stabilization, making it ideal for coverage of large-scale live events, such as concerts and sports. In addition to its advanced optical performance, the lens covers focal lengths ranging from 9mm in wide angle to 720mm in telephoto. The UA80x9 size and weight is similar to the popular XA99x8.4 field lens.

With a compact and lightweight design, a 22× zoom ratio and a focal length from 8mm in wide angle to 176mm in telephoto, the UA22x8 excels in capturing a broad range of applications, including live sports, program production and news reporting.

Both lenses offer exceptional optical performance in the center of the image through to the corners of the frame. Both come standard with a 16-bit encoder capable of high-resolution output of lens data, such as zoom and focal position information. They can also be linked with other systems, such as a virtual studio system for combining CG images with live action.

Major camera manufacturers and dealers will also have FUJINON lenses on their cameras at CCW/SATCON.
