NURAY Digitally Preserves Classic Comedy Series for NBCUniversal
NURAY Digital has completed a preservation project to restore and digitize episodes of the classic series Caroline’s Comedy Hour for NBCUniversal’s new digital service, Seeso.
The series, taped at the famed comedy venue Caroline’s on Broadway in early 1990s New York City features many of the biggest headliners in stand-up comedy in some of their earliest televised appearances. NURAY upconverted the episodes from DVDs and Beta tapes to 2K digital resolution to enhance the overall image quality and provided post-production services to capture metadata, add lower third text and normalize audio to broadcast standards.
“NBCUniversal recently partnered with NURAY Digital for the restoration of “Caroline’s Comedy Hour” and we couldn’t be happier with the final product. NURAY digitized the episodes and did post-production work to improve the quality and the overall experience for our audience,” says Justin Purnell, Director of Content Strategy and Operations at NBC Universal. “NURAY’s skill and attention to detail is evident in the quality of work. We are thrilled they could help us preserve these episodes so audiences can continue to enjoy them now and in the future.”
The newly revived episodes are now available on NBCU’s over-the-top subscription channel, Seeso.
