Adamo’s New Firm Aims To Help Others Embrace New Technology

With more than 37 years of experience in new media, technology, broadcasting, and entertainment, Glenn Adamo, former VP, NFL Media Operations, NFL Films & Broadcasting, has launched Ivanhoe Media & Entertainment, an independent consulting business focused on all aspects of media creation, production, and delivery.

“I had the greatest job and a lot of autonomy and the opportunity to build the NFL Network and make positive changes at NFL Films as it transitioned from a film-based facility to digital,” says Adamo. “And that process and new technologies like VR got me excited about the chance to focus on the newer stuff. I get really turned on by new technology and the ability to help people think through the monetization, overall strategy, and how to execute basic business principles, something a lot of people don’t have today.”

As a well-respected expert in the business, Adamo will leverage his knowledge and relationships to assist companies in their media strategy and execution and revenue generation, with an emphasis on deploying new and emerging technology to provide companies and brands with innovative approaches to their business. New-technology and digital-media companies will be the new firm’s primary target.

“My thing is working on things like broadcast, VR, graphics, and the ability to take data and not just aggregate and display but figuring out how to make it a product that can be monetized,” says Adamo. “It will run the gamut.”

He adds that professionalism, dedication, and transparency will be the hallmark of Ivanhoe Media & Entertainment (the company is named for the street Adamo lived on while a coordinating producer at NBC). The company will offer clients insightful and creative services designed to improve company culture while helping generate revenue.

“It’s fun to meet with young companies and understand their DNA, what they want to accomplish, and then apply my years of experience to steer them through the options,” he says. “Five years ago, if something was on the digital side, the broadcast side would leave it alone. The opportunity now is that everything is related to everything in media. So, once you embrace that as your marching order, it stops becoming about who owns it, and you can help everyone understand that it is all related and have a complete strategy. Otherwise, it’s not going to happen.”

The goal, ultimately, is to help companies that have killer ideas learn how to not only get through the door for a meeting but have a real goal. “People are interested in what these companies do,” he says. “Let’s craft a pitch to get it in front of people and get them excited about it.”

Having worked in senior management within sports companies throughout his career, Adamo understands what a proper pitch requires. Prior to being named NFL VP, media operations, he held senior roles at NBC Sports, the National Hockey League, the New Jersey Devils.

A winner of six Sports Emmys, he resides in Manalapan, NJ, and in his spare time indulges his love for hockey by serving on the board of Howell Ice World, helping oversee the NAHL’s New Jersey Titans.
