NBA TV, AT&T Deliver First Live NBA Game in 4K UHD With Nuggets/Jazz

Live 4K UHD took the hardcourt in the U.S. for the first time over the weekend, as AT&T and NBA TV produced and distributed the the Denver Nuggets/Utah Jazz game on Saturday, Dec. 3 live in 4K on DirecTV. This marked the first NBA game broadcast live this season in the U.S. in 4K Ultra HD by DirecTV. Additional games will be announced at a future date.

DirecTV 4kThe NBA was the first U.S. pro sports league to capture a game in 4K in January 2015, when the New York Knicks played the Milwaukee Bucks during NBA Global Games London. Up north, TSN and Sportsnet have been producing and distributing Toronto Raptors games (as well and NHL and Toronto Blue Jays games) in 4K for the past year.

DIRECTV was the first multichannel video provider to deliver 4K UHD Video on Demand programming in November 2014, the first to launch a full-time 4K channel, and has established a leadership position in 4K sports coverage.

In order to view the 4K UHD live experience on DIRECTV, viewers need the DIRECTV ULTIMATE Package or higher, 4K account authorization and professional installation; DIRECTV’s latest Genie HD DVR (HR54); and either a DIRECTV 4K Ready TV or a compatible 4K TV connected to the latest 4K Genie Mini.
