Daktronics Installs New LED Boards at Steelers’ Heinz Field, U of Cincinnati’s Nippert Stadium

Daktronics has partnered with the Pittsburgh Steelers to upgrade the south end zone video display at Heinz Field. In addition, Daktronics will design, manufacture and install a new LED video display at the University of Cincinnati’s Nippert Stadium.

Heinz Field Installing Upgraded LED Video Display
Once the installation for the Pittsburgh Steelers is complete this summer, the new display will feature a 13HD pixel layout for greater resolution and provide 45% more active displays space to entertain and inform fans and players.

The new 13HD display features the premier technology for large outdoor stadiums. It measures approximately 41 feet high by 123.5 feet wide for a total of 5,050 square feet. It also features viewing angles with the capacity to produce 281 trillion colors. Environmental protection keeps the technology safe from the outdoor elements of nature.

“We greatly value our long-standing partnership with Heinz Field and the Pittsburgh Steelers and are looking forward to continuing our relationship through this upcoming renovation,” says Daktronics CEO Reece Kurtenbach. “We are focused on providing the best solutions for our customers at every level of competition and are proud to be installing this LED display for professional football fans in Pittsburgh for the upcoming season.”

As with all Daktronics’ LED video displays, it is capable of variable content zoning which allows it to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones to show any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, animations, sponsorship messages and much more.

University of Cincinnati Bringing New Visual Fan Experience To Nippert Stadium
The University of Cincinnati’s new display will be ready to make a large impact at the Bearcats’ home for football games this fall.

“The new video board is a great enhancement to Nippert Stadium,” says Head Coach Luke Fickell. “UC is committed to giving its great fans the best game-day experience possible. It gives us the ability to impact fans, recruits and visitors to campus all year long. I am excited to see construction get started this month.”

The new end zone display will measure 31 feet high by 114 feet wide and feature a 13HD pixel layout for quality image clarity and contrast. It also features environmental protection and wide angle visibility ensuring a great view from any seat within Nippert Stadium.

The display will be capable of variable content zoning which allows it to show one large image or multiple different zones to show any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, game-day graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.

“We’re excited to continue our long-standing partnership with the University of Cincinnati to bring this video display enhancement to Nippert Stadium,” says Daryl Michael, Daktronics Regional Sales Manager. “The new end zone display will bring a ‘wow’ factor sure to excite Bearcat fans and student-athletes. We’re looking forward to seeing the final installation making an impact for the university when football kicks off this fall.”

In addition to the equipment installation, University of Cincinnati will also receive a bank of hours for the creation of digital content to be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services at the request of the university.

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with consistent performance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
