Ross Video Announces Native IP Support for Acuity, Carbonite

Ross Video has announced the addition of native IP support for Acuity, the company’s production switcher, and Carbonite Black, the world’s more popular mid-size production switcher at the SVG Summit in New York. Named AcuityIP and CarboniteIP respectively, both switchers are now able to seamlessly interface to standards-based SMPTE ST 2110 and ST 2022-6 infrastructures, making them ideal for customers planning COTS-based AIMS-compliant IP facilities.

Connectivity to COTS IP fabric is provided via standard 10GbE SFP+ interfaces with integrated discovery and registration of streams using open control protocols such as NMOS, EmBER+, and DashBoard. An optional aggregation switch can also be added to provide efficient 40GbE or 100GbE interfaces to a core or spine switch.

“Unlike competing solutions, AcuityIP and CarboniteIP require no compromise on I/O capacity, flexibility, or processing capability – retaining all the exceptional I/O processing features of their SDI family members/variants,” says Nigel Spratling, Director of Production Switchers and Video Servers, Ross Video. “In addition, users are able to mix and match IP and SDI interfaces, so each switcher may be used to connect directly to legacy SDI equipment as required, making it ideal for hybrid installations.”

AcuityIP and CarboniteIP reinforce Ross’ commitment to helping customers adapt to IP with future-proof investments along the way that also include Raptor EDGE – a modular, high-density IP/SDI media gateway – and IP connectivity options to the XPression graphics system.
