PyeongChang 2018: NBC Olympics Selects Linear Acoustic Audio for Production of 2018 Winter Games

NBC Olympics, a division of NBC Sports Group, has selected Linear Acoustic to provide audio upmixing and technical support for its production of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, which take place in PyeongChang, South Korea, from Feb. 8-25. The announcement was made today by Karl Malone, Director, Sound Design, NBC Sports & Olympics, and John Schur, President of the TV Solutions Group of the Telos Alliance.

Over 40 Linear Acoustic UPMAX v4 units, along with the UPMAX algorithm as a plugin for AVID workstations, have been delivered to NBC for their coverage of the Winter Games.  Additionally, an upmix algorithm which creates immersive audio for next generation audio formats, such as Dolby ATMOS, will debut at these Games. Linear Acoustic is also providing MT2000 Multichannel Bitstream Analyzers and on-site technical support in PyeongChang.
