SES Expands Global Reach With New Deal In Equatorial Guinea And Extension Of Palau Deal

SES Networks has announced a partnership with the official governmental channel of Equatorial Guinea for satellite and online distribution as well as the extension of their satellite distribution deal with Palau Telecoms.

Both announcements further cement SES’s status as a global satellite operator and the first to deliver a differentiated and scalable GEO-MEO offering worldwide, with more than 60 satellites in orbit around the Earth.

TVGE International Extends Global Reach With SES/MX1 Distribution Partnership

TVGE International, Equatorial Guinea’s governmental channel, is partnering with SES and MX1 to deliver its content worldwide on both linear and non-linear platforms. TVGE International is a free-to-air, Spanish-speaking channel that offers local news, entertainment and cultural programs.

In the agreement announced by SES/MX1, TVGE International will use satellite capacity to broadcast its 24/7 channel across Africa, Europe and the Americas.

In addition, SES’s wholly-owned subsidiary MX1 will provide video-on-demand (VOD) services and web applications. The non-linear distribution service, which will be the first of its kind in Equatorial Guinea, will enable viewers across the world to stream the channel live on the TVGE website or watch its programs on their phones via a dedicated app.

Palau Telecoms Customers To Continue Being ‘Always On’ With SES Extension

Customers of Palau’s local internet services provider Palau Telecoms will continue to enjoy enhanced and reliable fibre-like connectivity delivered by SES Networks.

SES announced that Palau Telecoms, which has been in a deal with since 2014, will be extending its contract until 2020 and increasing the amount of medium earth orbit (MEO) connectivity by 150%.

A long-term customer of SES Networks, Palau Telecoms is utilizing their existing MEO service to augment fibre capacity, providing an ‘always on’ service to its customers. This enhanced, robust infrastructure provides a solid foundation for their 4G implementation plans, giving their end users the quality experience they demand regardless of their location.
