wTVision Named Official Tech Supplier of Eurovision Song Contest, Starts New Postproduction Department

In the past couple of months, wTVision has made steady progress and has become part of some of Europe’s biggest TV and movie productions as well as making a new video highlighted their live sports production skills.

wTVision Is Named An Official Technical Supplier at Eurovision Song Contest 2018
wTVision is an official Technical Supplier of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, one of the longest-running and most prestigious TV Shows in Europe. The event will be broadcasted in the 42 participant countries and it is estimated that more than 200 million people will watch it at home, making it one of the biggest TV productions in the world.

The data and graphics operations of this major event will include wTVision’s Studio CG and R3 Space Engine and demand a team of six wTVision operators. The project includes both semi-finals, on May 8 and 10, and the final on May 12: all taking place in the Altice Arena in Lisbon.

The graphic information regarding the votes from the jury and from viewers all over Europe will be generated through a PCR solution that combines wTVision’s Studio CG and R3 Space Engine (wTVision’s real-time 3D graphics engine). The same solution will be implemented to manage the voting graphics and the lower thirds.

The voting data will be imported in real time, integrating all the official providers across Europe. wTVision will also be in charge of the Host Voting System, a web setup supplying the hosts of the show with valuable information, namely the countries qualified, the countries currently voting and changes on the leaderboard, among many others.

wTVision will assure full redundancy for the entire project, with two specialized operators (safeguarded with two backup operators) will manage the Scrutineers Desk through four computers (two main machines and two backups) equipped with R3 Space Engine and Studio CG. The same setup will be implemented for the lower-thirds operation. The Host Voting System will work through web technology, in a project specifically developed for the Eurovision Song Contest, to maximize its flexibility. The eventual need of disaster recovery is also anticipated through a ultimate backup computer equipped with R3 Space Engine, Studio CG and the project setup necessary to generate the most critical information.

Cinemundo Inaugurates New Post-Production Department at wTVision
wTVision is now using its broadcast industry experience to develop promotional videos and movie trailers for Cinemundo, a film distributor and cable network of premium channels operating in Portugal and Portuguese-speaking countries. The newly created department combines copywriting, post-production, voiceover and ingest capacity to develop videos for cable television and cinema.

The entire creative process takes place in wTVision’s Lisbon headquarters, now equipped with two complete editing studios, already prepared to record voice overs for channel promos and cinema/radio spots. This new Post-Production Department creates different teasers and adaptations taking into account the respective audiences and video formats.

The ingest, transcoding for multiple media formats and storage is also managed by wTVision, that coordinates the content distribution with Cinemundo in Portugal, Angola and Mozambique.
