Telemundo Deportes Escalates Coverage of 2018 FIFA World Cup With Live Streaming, Reporting in Spanish

Telemundo Deportes, the exclusive Spanish-language home of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, has announced their plan to livestream the games in Spanish-language on the NBC Sports app and feature Telemundo Deportes content on desktop computers via a link on NBCSports.com for viewers to enjoy the games at home, work, and on-the-go throughout the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Telemundo Deportes set to livestream 2018 FIFA World Cup

The NBC Sports app can be found on Mobile, Tablet (IOS, Android), as well as most connected TV Platforms (AppleTV, Roku, Amazon Fire, Chromecast, Xbox, Sony Playstation, Samsung SmartTVs). The combination of games available for livestream via the Telemundo Deportes En Vivo app and Telemundo stations’ apps, as well as the dedicated broadcasts on Telemundo and Universo, will provide fans with more than 1,000 total hours of dedicated digital content for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.

“Being part of the NBCUniversal family is a tremendous asset, further bolstering Telemundo Deportes’ extensive and unprecedented coverage for the tournament,” says Ray Warren, President of Telemundo Deportes. “Now anyone can enjoy soccer in Spanish-language no matter what app they use, whether they choose to watch through NBC Sports or Telemundo’s own En Vivo App or our local stations’ apps.”

The additional livestream comes as Telemundo Deportes has also announced two new additions to its World Cup commentary team. Erasmo Provenza (play-by-play) and Eduardo Biscayart (analyst) have been added to the World Cup commentary team. Provenza, who will be working his fourth World Cup, will be teamed with Viviana Vila while Biscayart will work with Sammy Sadovnik on 12 games throughout the group stage.

“We feel very fortunate to have brought on experts that embody the spirit and the passion of the World Cup,” said Eli Velazquez, EVP of Programming, Production and Content, Telemundo Deportes. “Both Erasmo and Eduardo bring with them a vast knowledge of the sport and a great energy to our team. We have analysts with deep expertise of nearly every Hispanic team and I’m really proud of the strong bench of commentators joining Telemundo for the World Cup this year.”

Provenza currently serves as Telemundo’s KDEN sports anchor in Denver and has more than 12 years of experience as a soccer narrator for radio and television, including previous World Cups, such as Germany in 2006, South Africa in 2010, and Brazil in 2014. Biscayart is an experienced sports commentator with four World Cups and nine Champions League finals under his belt, among several other international soccer tournaments.

In addition to the new game commentary team members, Telemundo Station Group will dispatch a team of local station journalists from stations in Los Angeles, Miami, Houston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, McAllen, and its news bureaus in Washington, D.C. and Miami to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. The station group’s team consists of 12 sports and news anchors, photographers, and producers. This is the largest group of Telemundo station journalists to report from an international, live sporting event.

WSCV (Miami) news anchor Adriana Delgado will deliver feature stories focusing on the World Cup and the competing teams to local audiences everywhere beginning on June 13. Sports anchors Rodrigo Arana from WSNS (Chicago) and Alejandro Navarro from KVEA (Los Angeles) will deliver live reports from Russia for Telemundo stations’ early, afternoon and evening newscasts. Sports anchors Erik Mora from KXTX (Dallas) and Ubaldo Martinez from KTMD (Houston) will travel all throughout Russia to capture and personalize every World Cup minute for the stations’ local audiences as the teams face one another to claim the trophy. The station group’s Washington, D.C. and Miami bureau photographers and producers will support the stations’ international live event coverage.
