SVG On Demand: MLB’s Jamie Leece on the Expanded Use of Virtual Reality

MLB Home Run Derby VR puts fans inside the action at professional ballparks

During the 2018 MLB All-Star Weekend, the first-ever MLB Home Run Derby VR Championship was held during FanFest at Nationals Park. Since then, the product has been available at other marquee events, such as the Little League World Series, the World Series, and specialty games in Puerto Rico and Mexico.

At the 2018 SVG Summit, Jamie Leece, SVP, games and VR, Major League Baseball, spoke to our Jason Dachman about why the league decided to launch this project, how virtual reality is resonating with fans who attend these large-scale events, and plans for expanding the game globally.

Assistant Editor and Social Media Coordinator Kristian Hernandez contributed to this report.
