Karate Combat Fights Towards Vewd’s First Martial Arts Sports App on Smart TVs

Karate Combat announced a partnership with Vewd, offering Karate Combat’s app and content on Vewd-enabled devices worldwide. It is the first martial arts-based sport to partner with Vewd. Vewd provides content distribution on Smart TVs and connected devices made by Sony, Hisense, Philips, and TiVo, among others.

Karate Combat has attracted top fighters from all over the world — many contenders for the sport’s debut at the Olympics in 2020 — and its events have been viewed by millions. Content on the Karate Combat app includes past fights in Budapest, Athens, Miami, New York, and Los Angeles, as well as fighter profiles and a variety of league content, now available on millions of connected TVs and set-top boxes.

By selecting Vewd as its Smart TV scaling partner, Karate Combat can grow its distribution across different platforms, without managing individual Smart TV apps, while retaining full editorial control of content. The Karate Combat app is already available on select devices.

“We are excited to bring our action-packed take on karate to the audience Vewd provides us,” said Kim Hurwitz, Chief Marketing Officer, Karate Combat. “Knowing we’re available on the top Smart TV brands’ devices is incredible.”

“We are pleased that Karate Combat chose Vewd to scale their Smart TV reach,” said Michael Winneker, VP of Content Partnerships, Vewd. “By working with us, Karate Combat can worry less about managing Smart TV apps, and focus on growing engagement, usage, and revenue through some of the most entertaining, action-packed OTT content available today.”
