Saddleback College Upgrades LED Video Displays With Daktronics

Daktronics has partnered with Saddleback College to design, manufacture, and install a new LED video display at the school’s sports complex in Mission Viejo, California, this spring. The display will provide a new visual experience for Gauchos fans at football, soccer and other special events starting in 2019.

“We are more than excited about the upcoming Stadium Complex and the Daktronics video board,” said Randy Totorp, athletic director and assistant dean, Saddleback College. “The focus has been to provide our student-athletes, coaches, staff and community the best facility possible. Partnering with Daktronics on what will be one of the largest video boards in South Orange County is a critical step toward accomplishing this goal.

“Daktronics is a proven leader in the industry and excellent partner for this project. The opportunity for large scale events to support Saddleback College and the community is near and we are thrilled to move forward as a leader in this area.”

The new display will measure approximately 17 feet high by 39.5 feet wide and will feature a 15HD pixel layout to bring crisp, clear imagery to fans in every seat of the complex. It will also feature industry-leading environmental protection and wide-angle visibility.

“We are thankful for the opportunity to work with Saddleback College on their football stadium project,” said Robin Hall, Daktronics regional manager. “The excitement of the new stadium and the new video displays will help them to continue to grow the program and their place in the community. We will work hard to provide a quality installation and to support them as a partner for years to come.”

The video board is capable of variable content zoning allowing it to show one large image or multiple zoned images. It can show any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics, animations, and sponsorship messages.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Saddleback College,” said Tom Coughlin, sales manager, Daktronics Sports Marketing. “Their new video display will not only bring Gaucho Gameday to a new level of excitement and fan interaction but will also present all kinds of new opportunities for generating revenue and providing educational opportunities for students.”
