Globo’s RPC Brings in EVS’s Dyvi Software-Defined Production Switcher for Newsroom Ops

Globo affiliate RPC, a  free-to-air television network with multiple stations across the Brazilian state of Paraná, has selected EVS’ Dyvi, to enhance its newsroom operations. The software-defined production switcher will bring greater operational efficiencies, improved reliability and more expansive creative capabilities.

Dyvi will complement EVS news solutions – including the XS server, IPDirector content management suite and XTAccess – already in place at the network’s Curitiba headquarters. RPC’s new system features two processing modules (PMs) with 64 inputs, 32 outputs and four multiviewers for maximum redundancy and scalability. Dyvi’s unique clustering architecture allows the network to expand functionalities and processing through the distributed processing modules.

The switching platform’s GPU-based architecture provides more creative control, including internal graphic processing that will feed RPC’s newsroom and studio screens, and the ability to save layout presets. Technical directors can easily configure Dyvi’s intuitive control panel according to personal preferences and to the needs of each production for faster, more efficient story creation.

Dyvi’s multiviewers will feed screens inside the control room, allowing TDs, as well as producers and technicians to easily operate the system while eliminating possible points of failure that exist with the newsroom’s current hardware-based multiviewers.

“Too many of our newsroom workflow processes are manual, taking up hours of precious time from our content creators, each and every day,” said Laercio Kazmierczak, Engineering Manager at RPC. “The advantages we’ll gain from Dyvi will not only deliver more streamlined and creative productions but will also significantly lower our operating expenses. It will make for a happier newsroom and better business.”
EVS’ VP Product John Carter, added: “We’re thrilled to see Dyvi’s unique range of benefits applied to the newsroom environment. The complex, fast-turnaround workflows of today’s 24/7 news cycles are ideally suited to Dyvi’s flexible, ultra-creative architecture.”

EVS demonstrated Dyvi at the SET Expo (August 26-29, in São Paulo, Brazil) at booth #17.
