Movicom Integrates Virtual Graphics With High-Flying Aerial Camera Systems

The Sports Video Group is excited to welcome Movicom as a new mobile/integrator sponsor. The company is known for developing and manufacturing specialty camera systems for live broadcast and productions done in the outdoors or within a studio environment.

Movicom’s headline product is a modular aerial cable camera system named RobyCam. RobyCam features gyrostabilized carbon fiber heads and can be rigged in 2-point or 4-point configurations depending on the client’s needs. The system integrates Movicom’s data-tracking technology, Compass AR, which allows for quick, easy, and seamless integration with virtual graphics software. The heads support industry standard broadcast cameras that can be controlled from standard RCPs and can be mounted independently of the cable system.

In addition, the company has a stable of other camera support tools such as railcam systems, robotic heads, and polecam products. As well as providing excellent service to the broadcast industry, Movicom has done custom installs and one-off builds by integrating hardware, software and creative solutions for stadiums, studios, and concert halls.

Before expanding into the American sports market, the company has a long history in Europe and Asia. Recently in the United States, Movicom worked with Activision Blizzard to deploy their Robycam system at last month’s Call of Duty League launch in Minneapolis. Prior to this event, the company played a role in every event of the International Swimming League‘s (ISL) inaugural season in Indianapolis, Dallas, Washinton D.C., and the grand finale in Las Vegas. For these broadcasts, the team worked with Girraphic for virtual graphics using the Compass AR system.

“SVG is critical to understanding the American sports broadcasting landscape and we had long used the website and newsletters as a resource for getting a glimpse as to what’s happening in this world,” says Greg Salman, COO, Movicom USA. “Once the decision was made to expand into the American market, joining SVG was an obvious first step in that direction. Now, we continue to learn from the professionals who are part of SVG and are honored to be able to interact with them on a personal basis at the events. We look forward to many new relationships and new knowledge.”
