NVIDIA Acquires SwiftStack With Eye on Future GPU-Powered AI Infrastructure

SwiftStack has signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by NVIDIA. SwiftStack’s technology is already a key part of NVIDIA’s GPU-powered AI infrastructure, and SwiftStack co-founder/CPO Joe Arnold said in an announcement on Thursday that his team “has worked with NVIDIA to solve the data challenges to enable AI at scale.” The transaction is expected to close in the weeks ahead, he added, subject to customary conditions.

Last year, the company launched SwiftStack 7, focused on the SwiftStack Data Platform for AI, HPC, and accelerated computing. This included SwiftStack 1space, which enables data acceleration in the core, at the edge, and in the cloud. According to Arnold, Swiftstack will continue to support its existing customers, offering maintenance, enhancements, and support for 1space, ProxyFS, Swift, and the Controller.

“Building AI supercomputers is exciting to the entire SwiftStack team,” he added. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with the talented folks at NVIDIA and look forward to contributing to its world-leading accelerated computing solutions. I’m personally excited about what the team and I will be building at NVIDIA.”
