SVG SportsTech On Demand: Cloudian’s Jon Toor on Solidifying Content Security

In an effort to keep the broadcast-technology community informed this spring, throughout April, SVG is hosting a series of SportsTech On Demand video interviews with executives from the industry’s top technology vendors discussing their latest product releases and company news. Our Jason Dachman caught up with Jon Toor, CMO, Cloudian, about what the company is up to on the storage side of the industry.

For media organizations, being hit with a ransomware attack could mean complete loss of access to content, crippling the company entirely. The FBI has deemed ransomware the fastest-growing malware threat, with attacks increasing 97% over the past two years and a new organization falling victim every 14 seconds, according to Cybersecurity Ventures.

To protect content from this growing threat, Cloudian recently announced a new Object Lock solution based on its HyperStore object storage and the new Veeam Availability Suite v10, which enables users to make backup copies immutable and invulnerable to hacker encryption or deletion. This data immutability ensures availability of an uninfected copy for reliable recovery in the event of a ransomware attack. The combined Cloudian-Veeam solution also offers cost savings of up to 70% over traditional disk- and tape-based storage.
