Ikegami UHL-F4000 Camera, New 3G Fiber Base Station Expand 4K, HDR, IP Options

Ikegami has launched two advanced new solutions, the UHL-F4000 4K/HD 3CMOS multi-purpose separate optics two-piece camera, and the BSX-100 3G fiber base station, joining an expanding line of 4K, HDR & IP technology from Ikegami.

The newly introduced Ikegami UHL-F4000 is a 4K/HD 3CMOS Multi-Purpose separate optics two-piece camera, feature a compact, lightweight, and low power consuming camera head (optical block), which makes the camera especially well-suited for helicopter camera applications.

The successor to Ikegami’s popular HDL-F3000 multi-purpose compact camera, the F4000 is newly equipped with Global Shutter CMOS sensors, which capture images clear from geometric distortion during still frame analysis and free from flash band effects. The F4000 is also newly capable of outputting 4K and Cutout HD images, while retaining the significant low light capability that was synonymous with the HDL-F3000.

A compact and power-saving 1.5 kg camera head has been achieved for optimal use as a helicopter camera system. In addition to its superior low light performance, an Image Sharpening Function boosts an object’s edge level when the image is zoomed in, for applications such as shooting a car license plate. Variable Contrast Control allows the operator to easily reproduce clear images with proper contrast even in situations of bad visibility, such as shooting through fog and smoke. Additionally, the remote control panel includes a variable control so operators can adapt the Ikegami UHL-F4000 in real time for optimum noise reduction when shooting at night with high gain.

Equipped with a digital zoom function from 1.1x to 10.0x in increments of 0.1, the UHL-F4000 exhibits a very smooth and natural zoom. Combined with the optical zoom, the overall zooming of the image looks more natural. Focus Assist Function is achieved by placing the edge components of the 4K image on the HD MON OUT signal, making it possible to critically focus 4K images using an HD monitor. Additionally, The UHL-F4000 can output an up-down reversed image, for use when the camera is set upside down.

The Ikegami UHL-F4000 employs an Optical Fiber connection between the camera head and CCU, allowing them to be separated by a distance up to 10km. As a result, the UHL-F4000 can be configured for a wide range of applications including weather cameras, surveillance cameras, and studio robotic camera systems.

The Ikegami BSX-100 3G Fiber Base Station, meanwhile, is a 3RU high half-rack-sized low-mass unit designed for easy integration into mobile production vehicles and other locations where space is limited. Compatible with Unicam HD system cameras including the HDK-99 and HDK-73, this new base station provides full support for Hybrid Log-Gamma in conformance with the international standard (ITU-R BT.2100).

The BSX-100 can provide transport for separate video, audio, and metadata as independent IP multicast streams with its optional plug-in MoIP module, realizing integration into a customer’s ST.2110 system workflow.  This option supports uncompressed HD IP main output in 10GbE with low latency, providing superb picture quality.  Redundancy is possible by using a second SFP interface, based on ST.2022-7.

Ikegami’s BSX-100 future proof design provides a 4K output signal with use of an optional built-in HD to 4K up-converter board.  With the board installed, 12G SDI or 3G Quad Link or 4K MoIP output are available, allowing Unicam HD camera models to operate in a 4K workflow.  In addition, the BSX-100 is designed for compatibility with future native 4K camera models.

These new solutions join recent additions to the Ikegami lineup such as the UHL-43 Multi-Purpose UHD/HD Digital Camera. A one-piece UHD digital camera, the UHL-43 employs the same 4K-native sensors as the UHK-430 and UHK-435 “Unicam XE” series cameras, while achieving the same performance.

Employing the same operational workflow and system structure as Ikegami’s UHK-430 and UHK-435 models, the UHL-43’s compact one-piece form factor makes it ideal for POV applications such as robotic studio production, sports, traffic and weather coverage and video surveillance. Ikegami’s UHL-43 is similarly ideal for jib and Steadicam applications.  Additionally, the UHL-43’s portable conversion kit has debuted, featuring a top handle and 2-inch color viewfinder, as well as a shoulder pad and battery bracket for mounting both battery and wireless transmitter.

Ikegami’s latest cameras join the new Ikegami ULE-217-HDR 215-inch full resolution HDR LCD broadcast monitor. A professional multi-purpose monitor providing HDR video display for under $1000, with 3G/HD-SDI and HDMI interface, the ULE-217-HDR is ideal for a wide range of HD video monitoring applications. It’s VESA interface allows it to be easily racked, wall-mounted or used on a desktop.
