Eurovision Services Upgrades BISS-CA Encryption Standard

Eurovision Services is upgrading its network throughout 2020 to incorporate the latest BISS-CA encryption standard. Any broadcaster who will need to receive high-value content that is transmitted by Eurovision Services with BISS-CA encryption in the future must register their equipment in advance by 15 July 2020.

Registered broadcasters can log in to their dashboard to review the list of their equipment and request BISS-CA access for individual devices. They can also manually add additional devices for which they can also request BISS-CA access.

Depending on the vendor and model of the decoder, the procedure for upgrading the firmware of the device to enable BISS-CA access will be different. Eurovision Services is offering an upgrade for Mediakind RX8200 decoders that are owned or were sold by the EBU or Eurovision Services. Although we are continuously working on testing and approving other decoders, we recommend that broadcasters contact their equipment vendors about firmware upgrades for any other devices.

The equipment registration page shows at a glance the status of each decoder registered with us, indicating clearly who is responsible for the next stage in the process. Decoders will only be able to decrypt BISS-CA transmissions from Eurovision Services once the entire registration process has been completed and the public key for the device is registered in our database.
