Extreme sports videos get handy

ZVUE, a video download store that lets users download videos to PCs and portable video devices, will add videos of extreme sports and martial arts to its portfolio thanks to a deal with TotalVid.

The TotalVid library of extreme sporting videos covers everything from skateboarding to kiteboarding, and mountain biking to paintball (motor sports are included as well).

“TotalVid offers mobile video catered to mobile lifestyles, which makes it a great fit for ZVUEers,” says Jeffrey D. Oscodar, chief executive officer and president of HandHeld Entertainment. “The amount of videos available for the ZVUE just keeps growing and growing, and we will continue to provide users with the content they want.”

Those heading to CES who aren t familiar with ZVUE can check out the company s latest portable video player at the show. About the size of a pack of playing cards, the ZVUE plays full-color video and clear audio sound. The next-generation version will have on-board flash memory, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and compatibility with Windows Media Video and Audio.

TotalVid’s extreme sporting videos will be available for download from the ZVUE download site in ZVUE-compatible form, as well as for other portable devices.

Karl Quist, founder and president of TotalVid sees a natural fit between sports video downloads and the extreme sports market. The ZVUE is great because it gives its users the ability to do things like watch a new skateboarding trick at the skate park and then try it moments later, he says.
