Sony feeling Bravia

Sony s CES booth featured seven new Bravia LCD panels, five with integrated ATSC tuners.

Known as the S-Series, the new products expand Sony s LCD flat-panel television line to include sizes ranging from 46 inches to 26 inches. The new models, the 46-inch KDL-46S2000 ($4,500), the 40-inch KDL-40S2000 ($3,000), the 32-inch KDL-32S2000 ($2,000), and the 26-inch KDL-26S2000 ($1,500), include an integrated ATSC digital tuner and feature 1,366×768 screen resolution.
One feature that is attractive for the sports industry is a one chip, full digital processor that reduces block noise around letters, such as on-screen graphics and subtitles and enhances contrast, producing crisp and vivid images. The chip also automatically adjusts greens and blues for truer and brighter colors.

Two HD monitors were also unveiled: the 40-inch KLV-40U100M ($2,800) and the 32-inch KLV-32U100M ($1,700) HD monitors. The resolution is the same as the rest of the line but they both are priced about $300 less than the models with the tuners.

Sony also rolled out its first Blu-ray Disc home player, the model BDP-S1. It will be available in early summer and has 1080p resolution and can also upscale regular DVD material to 1080p. Pricing was unavailable.
