NEP sounds off with Calrec Audio

Longtime Calrec Audio customer NEP, based in Pittsburgh, Pa., has purchased two 72-fader Alpha digital audio consoles from the company for installation on its SS25 and ND3HD mobile trucks. The new units will provide broadcasting services primarily for NEP’s network clients showcasing golf, auto-racing, and NFL games. With the two new units, NEP’s fleet now has a total of four Alpha consoles.

“Calrec is the industry benchmark when it comes to high-end digital audio
production, with consistently reliable, superior sound quality in all its products,” said George Hoover, senior vice president of engineering at NEP.
“These are the standard consoles we put in our trucks. They are easy to
operate and we find we save money with them because there is very little
training required.”

Every Calrec digital console is assignable, enabling direct access to the
majority of its functions and minimizing screen usage. In addition, many of
the panels between its Sigma and Alpha consoles are interchangeable, making complex mobile broadcasting operations a smooth, stress-free process. “All Calrec consoles are configured the same way,” said Hoover. “You can easily run all of them in a line.”

NEP is Calrec’s largest single customer in the United States. In addition
to the four Alphas, NEP owns one Sigma digital console, one C2 analog
console, six S2 analog consoles, five Q2 analog consoles, and one T Series
digitally controlled analog console. Five of NEP’s eight HD units and 11 of
its 18 SD units have Calrec consoles installed.
