U. of Ark. sprints to Daktronics

The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark., has chosen Daktronics to provide an integrated video display system for John McDonnell Field, home of Razorback outdoor track and field.

The new state-of-the-art display system, to be located on the north end of the track, will include a large ProStar display, measuring approximately 20 feet high by 36 feet wide. Additional features of the scoreboard include an identification panel on the top, sponsor panels on the sides and bottom, and a traditional brick structure. Approximate overall dimensions of the scoreboard are 37 feet high by 75 feet wide. The system will be one of the most capable of any at a collegiate track and field venue.

“We will be using the equipment to display track results, live video and instant replays,” said Jerry Pufall, University of Arkansas Associate Athletic Director for Facilities. “We have been happy with Daktronics performance and we are looking forward to this being a signature piece of the newly renovated John McDonnell Field.”

The University of Arkansas also uses Daktronics ProStar video technology in custom scoreboards for baseball at Baum Stadium at George Cole Field, for basketball at Bud Walton Arena, and for indoor track and field at the Randal Tyson Track Center.

ProStar VideoPlus technology, HD-ready and available only from Daktronics, uses the latest in red, green and blue (RGB) LED technology to present live and recorded video images, colorful animation and vivid graphics with incredible brightness and wide-angle visibility. The integrated system will be controlled with the proven Daktronics Venus 7000 controller and V-Link video processor.

Daktronics began manufacturing large screen, full-color, LED video displays in 1997. Since then, over 2,300 ProStar and ProAd displays have been sold and installed in sports and entertainment facilities around the world. Since 2001, independent market research from iSuppli Corp., lists Daktronics as the world’s leading supplier of large screen LED video displays.
