Rockford-Montgomery Labs to Launch First “TV in the SKY” in the US

In the world of advertising, the sky no longer provides a limit. Rockford-Montgomery Labs, a pharmaceutical company, has signed an agreement with The Lightship Group to launch the first high resolution, full-motion, full-color video LED screen ever flown in the US. The blimp is christened SKYSCREEN, and is set to hit a sky near you in February, 2007.

The flying advertisement will be fitted for HD broadcast cameras, so that it can be used to film spectator sports and televised events.

The SKYSCREEN floats at an altitude of 1,000 feet and travels at a top speed of 15 miles per hour. The 178-foot long blimp features a 30-by-70 foot high-resolution LED screen that is capable of broadcasting almost anything: promotions for Rockford-Montgomery products; television commercials; NACAR, NFL, and College football highlights; movie trailers; music videos; text messaging promotions; instant replays from stadium broadcasts; live telecasting; and anything else advertisers can think up. The content displayed on the SKYSCREEN can be simulcast to listeners tuning in over local airwaves or by digital satellite.

It totally rises above the clutter because this is the only one of its kind in the United States, said Toby Page, marketing director for The Lightship Group. It s never been seen before, so it gets a huge amount of attention.

Rockford-Montgomery will not disclose what products they will display on the SKYSCREEN, nor the color scheme or product on the airship s envelope, until the vehicle is ready for launch in February.
