Action Sports Media signs 10-year deal with Purdue University for stadium signage

Action Sports Media has signed a 10-year marketing partnership extension with Purdue University and will help finance a new state-of-the-art end zone video board and sideline advertising panel for Purdue’s football facility, Ross-Ade Stadium, and serve as the exclusive in-stadium marketing provider representing this new equipment.

The technology additions, provided by Daktronics, the world’s largest supplier of electronic scoreboards, include computer-programmable displays, large-screen video displays and control systems. All new signage will be operational when the Boilermakers kick off their 2007 football season.
The new video boards and signage installations complement the stadium’s $70 million renovation completed in 2003. The 62,500-seat Ross-Ade Stadium, regarded among the elite NCAA venues, was built in 1924. The stadium’s new video boards and signage will enhance the overall game day experience for the fans, and are the latest in a long line of stadium upgrades, which includes indoor and outdoor club seating, a state-of-the-art sound system, and re-designed and spacious concourse areas.

“Action Sports Media and Purdue University’s marketing partnership has provided us with the unique opportunity to work with one of the great athletic programs in the country,” said Gordon Whitener, CEO of Action Sports Media. “The goal of extending the Action Sports Media-Purdue partnership is to continue identifying and capitalizing on premier marketing opportunities that generate strong revenue for the university and its athletics program. We strongly believe that the Action Sports Media-Purdue partnership will have ongoing success based on our expertise and Purdue’s commitment to continually enhancing the fans’ game day experience.”

Action Sports Media and Purdue University worked closely with Daktronics to identify technologies that would fit best with Ross-Ade Stadium. The specific inventory to be purchased includes two ProStar(R) Video Displays, measuring 26-feet high by 38-feet wide and 6 1/2-feet high by 71-feet wide, and two sets of LED Delay of Game Clocks. The new video boards will enhance the overall atmosphere at Ross-Ade Stadium and provide fans with video replays, real-time scoring updates and interactive elements, as well as grant ample space for advertising and promotional opportunities.

“Some of the most dramatic moments in college football have unfolded at Ross-Ade Stadium, and we are ensuring its status as a top collegiate athletics venue,” said Morgan Burke, Purdue University director of intercollegiate athletics. “Purdue and Action Sports Media have enjoyed a very productive partnership since 1997, and extending this arrangement for another 10 years is great news for our university’s loyal fans, supporters and alumni who expect excellence, on and off the field, from Purdue University and its student-athletes.”
