CSTV tackles SEC tradition

By Andrew Lippe

CSTV, in partnership with SONIC has funded a project that will capture
the essence and allure of SEC football. Three college alumni will
travel to all 12 SEC campuses and cover over 8,000 miles in 14 weeks. Their experiences will be chronicled on www.cstv.com/missionsecfootball all season long with exclusive interactive broadband content and countless hours of streaming video.

“They live this 365 days a year. The SEC has probably the most passionate fans in the country,” said Tim Pernetti, Executive Vice President, Content, CSTV Networks. “We knew that CSTV’s audience would want to see the insider’s view of this, and we wanted to present this in various ways, from video to blogs to pictures, all first hand experiences.” Pernetti said.

UPenn alum Glenn Anderson, Auburn alum Emily Melton, and current Arkansas student Jean Neuberger will post blogs and video from the road of SEC games. They will immerse themselves in the lifestyle of a SEC fan capturing the games and stories from on and off the field as well as join fan communities.
“We are able to get inside access to not just the football programs, but everything that surrounds the team and the games. We are getting to see a side of the SEC that only those who are part of it do.” Pernetti said. Fans can post comments and receive mobile alerts of the trip.
CSTV and their affiliate partners Sonic, Starter, Ramada, Conoco-Phillips funded the trip to make this one of a kind journey. The alumni will travel to the campuses of Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt. “Hopefully the conference and schools themselves will see this as an enhancement to the fan experience,” Pernetti said.

The project kicked off August 31st in Starkville, MS, where South Carolina defeated
Mississippi State. The ride will end in the Georgia Dome the host of the SEC title game December 2nd.
CSTV has built a mecca of online reporting that will dedicate itself to showcasing the culture of college football in the SEC. “By the end of the season, we’ll hopefully have a complete story, a new chapter in the history of SEC Football.” Pernetti said.
