Miranda gives new look to Kaleido multiviewer

By Ken Kerschbaumer

Miranda took the wraps off of a new version of its Kaleido
multi-image viewer for flat panel displays. Known as Kaleido X, the system
features a built-in routing switcher and can handle up to 96 inputs for HD, SD,
and analog sources.

By combining monitoring with routing customers benefit from
improved signal flexibility and space efficiency, said Michel Proulx, Miranda
CTO. It also reduces cost and cabling.

Multi-image processors continue to make inroads in broadcast
facilities and OB vans, letting users of
flat-panel displays watch multiple source images on the screen at once. By
increasing the number of inputs to 96, the 7-RU high Kaleido-X ensures that
editors and replay personnel have access to as many camera and tape sources as
needed. It can also monitor up to 2,304 channels of audio, including embedded
audio, discrete AES or discrete analog.

The router has 96 unprocessed inputs and 48 HD/SD outputs
for feeding baseband high-quality monitors, test equipment, and master control
or production switchers. Router outputs can be controlled by on-screen menus, a
remote panel, Miranda s iRouter application and by master control or production
switcher auxiliary bus controls.
