Motorola has announced its acquisition of content-on-demand technology
company Broadbus Technologies. With the close of the transaction, Motorola gains content management and distribution capabilities to
address growing market opportunities such as mobile video, VoD,
network-based digital video recording, on-demand ad insertion and
switched digital video.

“We announced the finalisation of this deal
at IBC,” commented Tom Kennedy, senior director, marketing at Broadbus.
“This will make a big difference. We’ve had some great success in North
America, good strong business here in Europe and we’re starting to make
in-roads in Asia. As part of Motorola’s connected home division we can
leverage all the other technologies within the organisation and
accelerate significantly along our development path.”

At IBC,
Broadbus has announced the latest version of its award-winning
on-demand video platform. The release extends Broadbus’ carrier-class
on-demand system with enhanced support for IPTV applications and new
reliability features.
