Synchroniser Reduces Cost & Complexity Of HD Systems

SYNNER HD is the ultimate combined-function High Definition product.

It features a video synchroniser, tracking audio delay,
embedder/de-embedder and audio processor, giving broadcasters
significant cost and rack space savings by providing so many different
functions on one board.

As flexible as the broadcast engineer needs it to be, SYNNER HD can be
used in many different ways and with both HD and SDI, increasing its
usefulness in any broadcast environment. It is likely to be most
popular as a straightforward embedded audio synchroniser. With timing
coming from either SD or HD analogue syncs, it will synchronise the
video, de-embed up to two audio groups, mono route the audio channels
and pass them through a tracking audio delay resampling them to match
the synchronised video, and then finally re-embed the two groups.

By fitting piggybacks to the motherboard SYNNER HD can include an audio
embedder or de-embedder. In this case it will embed up to two groups of
AES or analogue audio and allow the overwriting or shuffling of
existing audio, or de-embed two groups of audio timed to the system. To
embed audio, the HD-DIP2 piggyback is used for AES, the HD-DIP2-RS for
asynchronous AES and the HD-AIP2 for analogue audio. To de-embed audio,
the HD-DOP2-75 is used for 75Ohm AES, the HD-DOP2-110 for 110Ohm AES
and the HD-AOP2 for analogue audio. One piggyback is required for one
audio group and two piggybacks for two audio groups.

SYNNER HD also offers powerful audio processing capabilities. These
include adjustable audio delay of up to 60ms to compensate for any
video processing, muting of individual audio channels, stereo to mono
conversion and gain adjustment of the audio levels between +3dB and
-3dB in 0.1dB steps. Forward error correction ensures the audio quality
remains perfect.

A 100mm x 266mm module, SYNNER HD can be housed in four different frame
sizes (4U, 2U, 1U and desk top box) and uses the RM33 frame rear
module. The control options are as flexible as SYNNER HD and include
board edge, an active front panel on the frame, a remote panel or the
Statesman PC software.

With High Definition video likely to be accompanied by embedded audio
in many cases, SYNNER HD is destined to become one of Crystal Vision’s
most successful HD products – especially with its ability to simplify
system designs. SYNNER HD will be shipping later this year.
