Gefen intros DVI/HD-SDI scalers

Connectivity solutions provider Gefen has introduced two new scalers designed to enable a conversion of different digital interfaces in the studio.

Both the HD-SDI to DVI Scaler and the DVI to HD-SDI Scaler offer professional-quality up and down scaling of both standard and high definition resolutions, enabling cost-effective digital visual interface (DVI) sources and displays to be integrated into systems using serial digital interfaces (SDI).

Each scaler supports single and dual link DVI and SDI modes, and may be up/down scaled and output in resolutions up to 1080p. The DVI to HD-SDI Scaler supports a large variety of input resolutions from VGA to WUXGA; the HD-SDI to DVI Scaler supports the same output resolutions.

An optional RS-232 port is included on both scalers for linking upgradeable firmware as well as system setup and control. The intuitive on-screen menu in both French and English languages enables a quick and easy selection and retrieval of preferences, also available through the IR remote control.

Both scalers employ the GF9351 Image Processor by Gennum, which features the latest de-interlacing and scaling algorithms with dynamic edge detection to provide the sharpest and cleanest possible image. All algorithms with the industry-leading VXP technology support high definition processing, offering complete input and output support for today’s high resolution, high bandwidth demands.

The units also boast such image enhancements as motion processing and 3D noise reduction for uncompromised visual quality.

These new features combined with a plug and play methodology and an affordable price makes both the DVI to HD-SDI Scaler and the HD-SDI to DVI Scaler valuable additions to any expert system operating in high definition video today.
