Fox O&O WJW Cleveland adds JVC ProHD gear
Story Highlights
WJW Cleveland, OH has purchased JVC’s GY-HD250U ProHD cameras to complement the station’s existing production of its local newscasts in full HD. Additionally, WJW-TV utilizes JVC’s encoders and decoders for the station’s HD helicopter broadcast coverage.
In December 2004, WJW-TV became the third television station in the country to produce all daily local newscasts in the high definition format, and continues to implement the highest quality equipment throughout the entire station.
“We initially purchased the GY-HD250U cameras for live remote beauty shots,” said Tom Creter, VP of Engineering, WJW-TV. “We were so impressed with the quality of HD footage, that we started to utilize the HD250’s in our newsroom as live flash cameras.”
“Our GY-HD250U cameras provide television stations such as WJW-TV with an affordable, high quality solution for HD production,” said Lawrence Librach, Assistant Vice President, business development for broadcast and entertainment, JVC Professional Products Company. “Our versatile GY-HD250U ProHD cameras can be used for a variety of applications. The camera’s functionality and high quality professional HD footage truly speaks for itself. ”
This announcement follows the recent purchase and successful integration of the JVC GY-HD250U by WXYZ-TV, ABC affiliate in Detroit, MI and WLS-TV, ABC affiliate in Chicago, IL.
