FIVE POINT PRODUCTIONS COMMERCIAL SHOT WITH JVC PRO HD CAMCORDER WINS DORITOS CRASH THE SUPER BOWL COMPETITION
Story Highlights
Five Point Productions Live the Flavor 30-second spot is the winner of the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl Contest, which aired during the Super Bowl last night. Shot with the JVC ProHD HD100 Series camcorder, producer, Dale Backus, completed the commercial in just four days.
Sponsored by Frito Lay, the Crash the Super Bowl video contest invited fans to create their own 30-second Doritos commercial. Among the 1,000 people who entered the contest, only five finalists were chosen. Viewers had a chance to vote online to determine what Doritos commercial appeared during the 2007 Super Bowl.
The JVC worked very well for us, as it usually does. It’s small enough to go handheld for working in tight spaces, but has a powerful feature set, enough to deliver a high quality product, especially in combination with the Letus 35mm adapter, said Backus. When we looked to purchase a new camera about a year ago, we gravitated towards the HD100 because we ve had good experiences with JVC cameras in the past. Secondly, it had interchangeable lenses, which is a very handy thing. It became especially useful when looking for a 35mm adapter – the Letus was a perfect match, allowing us to adapt straight to the camera body and eliminating additional light loss. Third, we liked the HDV format because of its very efficient compression, which allowed us to work in HD without buying enormous amounts of storage. Finally, the JVC fit our price range.
