Eyeheight embraces modular master control at NAB

Eyeheight has chosen NAB as the launch venue for a major addition to its range of modular master control equipment. Based on the first in a new generation of Eyeheight intelligent dual-processor 1U chassis, ‘playout compact’ builds on the established and highly successful ‘playout’, combining an increased feature set and higher component packing density. The result is a versatile multi-channel master controller for use in automated or manually controlled systems. Up to eight ‘playout compact’ panels can be managed from a single control network.

‘playout compact’ is structured around a flexible A/B switcher with full four-group 16 channel audio facilities. Expansion chassis can be connected easily where or when required. Each chassis accommodates up to six modules, available options including keyer, squeeze, dual voiceover, bug inserter, preview selector, 8 x 4 and 12 x 4 video and AES audio crosspoints for program-preset operation. Full manual control panels are available. Ethernet and RS232/422 control interfaces plus 14 GPI/tallies are incorporated. Standard features include PresTX automation protocol, temperature monitoring and onscreen display of fan and power supply status. A hot-swap dual redundant power supply is available as an option.

‘playout compact’ employs flash-RAM utility data storage combining high integral stability with easy upgradeability. The system comes complete with the Eyeheight’s Playout Application Suite, a powerful suite of programs for setting up squeezeback moves and downloading channel-branding logos as well as for general set-up and diagnostics. This now all simply connects using TCP/IP protocol on the Ethernet port.
