Modulus Video to roll out statistical muxing at NAB

At NAB2007 Modulus Video will introduce StatmuxIP, a state of the art statistical multiplexing system for the ME2000 family of HD/SD MPEG-4 AVC video encoders from Modulus Video. Supporting both HD and SD operations, StatmuxIP will deliver efficiency improvements up to 40% for multi-program transport stream (MPTS) applications such as direct to home satellite or distribution.

Modulus Video says StatmuxIP is based on a closed loop methodology using an IP based signaling infrastructure that yields significant benefits compared to traditional statistical multiplexing solutions. By sending control messages over IP, operators can use LAN/WAN networking to enable geographically distributed encoders to participate in a statistical multiplex and be aggregated into the final transport stream at a central location.

It also reduces cost by eliminating expensive ASI infrastructure, replacing it with low cost IT equipment. And by employing LAN/WAN networking it supports distributed architectures.

Also new at NAB will be the ME2000 family of encoders. The multi-format platform has already been deployed to deliver real-time MPEG-4 AVC HD or SD services at the lowest bit rates. The ME2000 includes advanced features such as digital program insertion triggers and a low resolution proxy output stream for program guide or monitoring applications.

ME2000 models include:
The ME2600 High Definition MPEG-4 AVC Video Encoder
The ME2100 Standard Definition MPEG-4 AVC Video Encoder
The ME2020 Standard Definition MPEG-4 AVC Video Encoder offers similar functionality as the ME2100 without the ability to upgrade to HD.
The ME2011 Standard Definition MPEG-4 AVC Video Encoder is a targeted solution for constant bit rate (CBR) applications on a tight budget.

And making its NAB debut is VODxchange is a complete, real-time HD or SD MPEG-4 AVC video encoding system for Video-On-Demand movies and local content delivered over IPTV networks. Already in use by Hollywood, the easy to use system ingests content from any video/file format and uses the industry-leading ME2000 Multi-Format AVC encoder. Advanced features like bandwidth optimizing Constrained Fidelity-Constant Bit Rate (CF-CBR ) mode, digital program insertion triggers and integrated low resolution stream output support any operational requirement for distributing to IPTV VOD servers, set top boxes, mobile services and the Internet.

And last, the Modulus Compression Systems Manager (MCSM) enables operators to completely monitor and control their compression operations to ensure maximum system availability. Using web based protocols, MCSM1000 Series delivers configuration, monitoring and redundancy management within a new user friendly graphical interface that includes thumbnail service views. A hybrid mix of SNMP and HTTP protocols facilitates ease of use, updates, integration with third party systems and alarm forwarding.
