Riedel celebrates 20th anniversary in style

Riedel Communications, German manufacturer and supplier of most sophisticated communication systems for broadcast, theatre, sports and events, celebrated its 20th anniversary with more than 800 customers, employees and partners from all over the world. The celebration’s slogan, “Passion – more than just 20 years”, was coined specifically for the milestone event which was held in the Company’s Wuppertal headquarters in February.

For the celebration Riedel transformed three huge storage areas into spectacular lounge and club landscapes. The unusual entertainment program featured an eclectic group of professional performers including Flamenco, Klezmer, and Japanese Butoh dancers, who performed behind waterwalls aided by video installations.

“My years on and behind the stage have helped me to understand, what a live event means. No matter if it’s theatre, opera, broadcast, sports or other events – communications technology forms the central nervous system of the event. The limitations of the available technologies drove me to specialize in communications. As I stand here this evening with 800 friends, partners, employees, and customers, I have to admit that this was probably not a bad idea,” said managing director Thomas Riedel in his speech.

The 20th anniversary celebration was the culmination of Riedel’s two-day distributor conference, which was attended by the Company’s distributors from 27 countries. In numerous courses and workshops Riedel trained its international partners on current and future Riedel products. For authenticity, Wige Media AG supplied its flagship OB-truck HD1 for “hands-on” demonstrations.

In 2006 Riedel Communications won numerous national and international broadcast projects, among them WDR (Germany), NFL Network (USA), RTBF (Belgium) and BBC Scotland – the largest intercom installation in Europe. Riedel’s rental business for intercom and professional mobile radio solutions – one the largest world-wide – experienced a successful year with many large-scale projects, including the Olympic Winter Games in Torino which were followed by a successful Formula 1 season, the FIFA World Cup in Germany and the Asian Games in Doha/Qatar.
